Hello all,

It’s been quite some time since we last had an update in the magazine but now we’ve finally got round to it there’s a bit of a list to get through! After another successful summer holiday to Switzerland which was greatly enjoyed by all the boys as well as the leaders we started back this session at the end of August.

Kevin Garrity, one of our new young leaders, ran a very successful recruitment presentation in some of the local schools and subsequently we now have over thirty boys and girls in the troop. The highest number in a long time which is always good but it can be challenging at times keeping control of things on Friday nights and organising events and outings!

As I’m sure you’ve all noticed, the new hall renovation is finally finished. This was done by the leaders from the Scout troop and took slightly longer than expected but better late than never I suppose! This was our gift to the Church from the group for the use of the hall and also since most of the holes in the walls were put there by us over the years however with the new strengthened walls, hopefully this won’t be the case in the future! We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jenny Gilmour and local property design and maintenance company Essjay Designs for their help and support with the renovation. All their help was greatly appreciated.

Also, as of January Derek Brett will no longer be the leader in charge as he will be working away most of next year so the new leadership team will be as follows:
